Daniels Fund awards $115,000 for scholarships
to non-traditional students in New Mexico

The Daniels Fund has awarded $115,000 in Boundless Opportunity Scholarship grant funds to four colleges and universities in New Mexico: Central New Mexico Community College, Eastern New Mexico University, San Juan College, and the University of New Mexico.

The partnering schools will use the funds to award Boundless Opportunity Scholarships to non-traditional students who are motivated to create a better life for themselves and their families, and who demonstrate the need for financial assistance.

“Education can be a great way for people to better their lives through new or expanded career options, but there are fewer scholarship opportunities for non-traditional students,” said Hanna Skandera, president & CEO of the Daniels Fund. “The Boundless Opportunity Scholarship Program was created to fill this need and help these students pursue their dreams.”

Qualifying “non-traditional” student populations include: adults entering or returning to college, GED recipients, veterans entering or returning to college, former foster care youth, former juvenile justice youth, and students participating in ROTC on campus. Each school selects specific populations for which they provide scholarships.

A full list of schools and the populations they award can be found at DanielsFund.org/Boundless. Each year, funding for Boundless Opportunity Scholarships is awarded to schools for two-year cycles, so scholarships are also available at the following schools that received funding in 2021: New Mexico State University, Santa Fe Community College, University of New Mexico–Valencia, and University of New Mexico–Taos.

The name of the program comes from a quote by founder Bill Daniels who once stated, “America remains the greatest nation on earth, where boundless opportunities still exist for each and every one of us.”

Since 2003, Daniels Fund has granted a total of $21.4 million in Boundless Opportunity Scholarship funding which has been awarded to more than 7,700 non-traditional students through colleges in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

Daniels Fund awards $730,000 for scholarships
to non-traditional students in Colorado

The Daniels Fund has awarded $730,000 in Boundless Opportunity Scholarship grant funds to 13 colleges and universities in Colorado. The partnering schools will use the funds to award Boundless Opportunity Scholarships to non-traditional students who are motivated to create a better life for themselves and their families, and who demonstrate the need for financial assistance.

The Colorado colleges and universities awarded grants are Colorado Christian University, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado School of Mines, Community College of Aurora, Fort Lewis College, Morgan Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, University of Colorado Denver, University of Denver, University of Northern Colorado, and Western Colorado University.

Daniels Fund gives $60.5 million
in grants and scholarships in 2021

Crosses $1 billion giving milestone

The Daniels Fund reached $1 billion in total giving and distributed $60.5 million in grants and scholarships in 2021. The total includes $44.1 million in grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, as well as to select national organizations and $16.4 million in scholarships to students throughout the four-state region.

In December, the Daniels Fund reached the milestone of $1 billion in giving since its founding in 2000. During that time, the foundation awarded more than 13,000 grants and nearly 4,600 college scholarships. To read stories of people impacted by the Daniels Fund, visit www.DanielsFund.org/Stories.

Communities across Colorado are benefiting from $29.6 million in grants this past year to outstanding nonprofits throughout the state. The Daniels Fund makes grants in eight funding areas as specified by its founder, Bill Daniels: Aging, Amateur Sports, Disabilities, Drug & Alcohol Addiction, Early Childhood Education, K-12 Education Reform, Homeless & Disadvantaged, and Youth Development.

Colorado students received $10.7 million in scholarships through the Daniels Fund’s two distinct scholarship programs. The Daniels Scholarship Program provides college scholarships to deserving high school seniors. The Boundless Opportunity Scholarship program provides funding to participating colleges to offer scholarships to non-traditional students.

The Daniels Fund also provided grant funding for ethics education through the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative.
