Please describe what it means to you to be a Daniels Scholar: I feel very blessed and grateful, in addition to being a little shocked and amazed. Being a scholar under Bill Daniels, one of the most renowned corporate businessmen in Colorado, is a big deal. He was the type of person who only looked for the best, most serious and dedicated people, and he did not mess around. That tells me that I was not chosen as a Daniels Scholar for nothing. I have a job to do, and I will fulfill it. I’m also glad for being a scholar because since it is near impossible for a person to pursue his or her dreams in today’s world, the Daniels Fund shows that there is hope for the people that deserve to go to college but don’t have the resources to accomplish that goal. Being a Daniels Scholar means a lot to me.
What do you like most about being in college? Being able to meet people from all over and having the experience of finding out more about you.
What has been the greatest challenge so far in college? Dealing with a university that is always organized and sometimes appears more concerned about keeping their image rather than dealing with the issues on campus.
What advice would you offer someone who is applying to become a Daniels Scholar? Being a Daniels Scholar is a great blessing. The Daniels Fund has helped me with everything when I didn’t even know what to do. Also, they are always there for you, making sure that your college process is as smooth as possible. It is a great opportunity, a one of a kind at that. Don’t let it pass you up.
