Based on Bill Daniels’ personal commitment to ethics and integrity, the Daniels Fund Board of Directors has established the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative in partnership with business schools at colleges and universities in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. The Ethics Initiative will drive the strengthening of principle-based ethics education throughout the business schools, instilling a high standard of ethics in our young people.
The Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative has been defined to reflect the values and goals of Bill Daniels:
- The Ethics Initiative will be anchored in the business school.
- The Business School Dean will be responsible for leading the success of the Ethics Initiative. The Dean may designate an initiative director to guide the effort.
- Executive leadership of the college/university will be committed to making principle-based ethics instruction a high priority.
- Ethics education will be grounded in concepts that are based on Bill Daniels’ clear commitment to principle-based ethics.
- The primary objective is active engagement of students, not research or publishing. Instruction will include real-world practical application, be applicable to business world, and be relevant to the changing global environment.
- Expected Outcomes:
- Student learning
- Involvement of the business community
- Outreach to other educational institutions
- Outreach to non-business disciplines on campus
- Specific tactics to accomplish these outcomes will be proposed by each business school.
- Ethics Initiative funding is to be used for additive activities. It is not intended to support existing costs.
- Evaluation measures will be proposed by each business school and reported yearly. Annual funding is contingent on successful performance against the expected outcomes.
- The college/university must demonstrate a clear plan to ensure continuity of the program focus in the future.
- In coordination with the Daniels Fund, activities and accomplishments will be proactively communicated for broad public awareness and to further Bill Daniels’ reputation as a business leader of admirable ethics and integrity.
