Tony Acone was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1968, he joined cable television pioneer Bill Daniels. Acone built, launched, and operated the nation’s first full color origination studio in cable television in Palm Desert, California in 1969. He served as Vice President and Director of programming for the Palm Desert operation until 1972.
Acone served as Chairman of the California State Cablecasting and Programming Committee from 1969 to 1972 and was cited as Cable Television Pioneer by the California Cable Television Association in 1971.
In 1972, Acone was transferred to Texas and appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Daniels operations in Killeen, Harker Heights, and Copperas Cove. In 1975, he was moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Acone assumed the duties of Vice President and District Manager for Lincoln and 13 southeast Nebraska communities.
Tony was appointed Chairman of the National Cable Television Association Cable Services Committee in 1978. In 1979, Acone founded and established the prestigious and now famous Cable ACE Awards.
In 1979, he was named President of Daniels Cablevision, Inc. in Carlsbad, California. Acone built and developed the Daniels Communications Center in Carlsbad and there established the headquarters of the cable operations for Daniels in San Diego’s North County.
In 1982, Acone began the development of a regional sports network for the Southern California and Western states region. Acone founded the Prime Ticket Sports Network bringing together Bill Daniels and Dr. Jerry Buss, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Great Western Forum. Acone launched the network in October, 1985, and additionally established The Prime Network, a national network of regional sports networks from around the country. Acone was President/CEO of Prime Ticket from 1985-1989. In 1989, he was appointed Assistant to the Chairman.
Tony’s active career has also kept him involved in community affairs. He has been President of 2 Chambers of Commerce, President of the Better Business Bureau, and past Chairman of the Community United Way Drive. Along with his wife, Sonnie, Tony is an active supporter of the Women’s Resource Center in North County San Diego and Miriam House in the Coachella Valley. Acone is a past Chairman of the Board of The Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation of Lincoln, Nebraska. Tony was also Chairman of the National Advisory Council for Madonna.
Mr. Acone is currently President of Trinity Tech Media, Inc. DBA, Uronimo, a digital media company of Palm Springs, California. Tony is active in the development of, and serves as a consultant to, several companies including The Ticket Reserve located in Chicago, Ill. He is an advisor and a member of the board of Client Dynamics, Inc., a software development company located in Irvine, California.
